#Mindpickd: Top 10 Comics-Nov. 25
As usual, every week I’ll be appearing on the PowWow Show of SoFloRadio.com, geeking out on the live radio show with the hosts Luis Amado and Jo Daddy live at 9pm, every Wednesday night, where we will be talking about the week’s new #MINDPICKD comics (or the new comics that you should be reading this week).
Seems like a light hit this week in comics, Thank God! Even though it’s a light week, there’s still some heavy hitters to get excited for. There’s a nice mix of Marvel, DC Comics, and Zenescope Entertainment makes the list this week. We have some heavy hitting writers going this week. We get Scott Snyder, Geoff Johns, and a extremely busy Jonathan Hickman this week, I’m sure entertainment will be at an all time high this week, so let’s get into it.
10. Grimm Fairy Tales: Alice In Wonderland #1
If Walt Disney was influenced by strip clubs, then you would get the wonderful world of Grimms Fairy Tales from Zenescope. Think of Halloween downtown chockfull of scantily clad Fairy Tale characters and there you would get this week’s new GFT: Alice In Wonderland #1. Follow the white rabbit down a world of madness in this new ongoing title.
9. Transformers: Robots In Disguise Ongoing #1
A new Transformers comic from IDW comics brings you a world without Optimus Prime. This is the first issue of a great jumping on point taking Transformers into a new direction where Bumblebee tries to bring order to the Autobots after the war for Cybetron.
8. Deadpool Vol. 3 #49.1
Jump on point for new readers. Like watching a title kill it’s own superhero? Then Jump onboard here!
7. Ultimate Comics Ultimates #6
Jonathan Hickman writes a great comic and the Ultimates kicks major ass. Ultimate Falcon returns, and I believe that this issue comes with a free digital copy like the other Ultimate comics are doing now. Download the Marvel app and enjoy this comic digitally too.
6. The Mighty Thor #10
Another great Marvel writer, Matt Fraction, brings the battle between Tanarus and Heimdall while Thor looks to escape being consumed by the the Demogorge as his starship full of other fallen gods enter his clutches. Loki and the Silver Surfer may have found a way for everyone to remember Thor in this week’s Mighty Thor.
5. FF #14
Hickman makes the list again in the Future Foundation’s Part 3 of “All Hope Lies in Doom” in a story line that runs parallel with the the next Mindpick’d comic.
4. Fantastic Four #602
Hickman continues a busy week as he brings “Forever” Part 3 this week with The Kree Empire, the Annihilation Wave, and Galactus. A power packed ensemble fills the pages of this comic book in a storyline almost three years in the making.
3. American Vampire #23
In part 2 of “Death Race”, Scott Snyder takes us to the homogenized America in the 50′s with Travis Kidd, the vampire hunter. In this issue, we’re about to learn the connection between Kidd and AV’s main character Skinner Sweet. Will the suburbs be safe again? Find out this week in Scott Snyder and future ‘Batman’ artist Rafael Albuquerque’s American Vampire.
2. Aquaman (2011-) #5
If you were the King of the Ocean and woke up stranded in the desert you would think this would be the beginning of a story arc that picks up after a bachelor party in a Superhero version of Hangover. Geoff Johns has made Aquaman a badass in the new DCU and relevant again. This is a great jump on point for fans of a good comic.
THIS WEEK’S TOP MINDPICK’D COMIC
1. Justice League (2011-) #5
A newly formed Justice League, with Cyborg on their side, must band together and take down Darkseid in which should be an epic battle for the ages. From one of DC Comics’ top creative team of Geoff Johns and Jim Lee comes a reboot for the ages. A Digital Combo pack polybagged with a digital download redemption code along with a special cover comes in this week’s top pick.
